Role

Technical Designer

Yarnover was a team project I worked on while in University with a few classmates. We were passionate about this idea as our assignment was to create a 2D game together. We settled on a game about a cat trying to unravel a ball of yarn to get to the treat inside.

My role on this project was a Technical Designer. During this role I did programming tasks working on gameplay mechanics as well as work on placeholder art. This art influenced the final appearance of the Cat, Furniture, and Catnip.
The mechanics I worked on were the catnip and furniture movement mechanics.
For the Furniture mechanics I needed to create a system that would allow the player to interact with and move furniture out of the way while still staying in the limits of the game space.
For the Catnip mechanic I inverted the player's controls and added dynamic post processing and a change in audio to help convey the fact that the player's cat had been affected.
